Nakul Dev, activist and volunteer who is helping the Karnataka Forest Department has shared a video showing the raging fires within Bandipur National Park, and hopes that media, government, everyone is watching
Speaking on video from the Gopalaswamy Betta range of Bandipur, Nakul Dev, activist and volunteer who is helping the Karnataka Forest Department says they are fighting a losing battle in controlling the forest fire that has broken out in Bandipur National Park on the Tamil Nadu border in south Karnataka.
“As you can see, there is fire everywhere in the forest and we really don’t know what to do. Our volunteers here are trying to douse the fire as much as they can but it’s a losing battle. I hope the media, the government, everybody is watching this video”.
The fire started in the Kundakere range and spread to Gopalaswamy Betta and some parts of Kullana Betta area. This is about 20 square km.
Subash K Malkhede IFS, Additional PCCF (Wildlife) told The Lede they are still fighting to put out the fire.
