Tamil Nadu Forest Department officials guide a frightened little elephant calf back into the wild
A baby elephant was separated from its mother as the wild herd entered agricultural lands in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district on February 09.
While villagers and Tamil Nadu Forest Department officials managed to drive the older elephants away by bursting crackers, this little fellow was left behind in the fields. Forest Department officials then helped him get over the deep trenches dug to keep wild elephants away and managed to re-unite him with his herd.
