Horrifying incident at Pannimadai in Coimbatore makes residents draw parallels with Pollachi sexual abuse case, demand justice.
At Pannimadai in Coimbatore – a minor girl who had gone to school on Monday was found dead early on Tuesday morning with grievous injuries to her body and signs of suspected rape, according to the parents and relatives of the girl.
Police are waiting for the post-mortem report to file a case of rape and murder. The minor was found by relatives in a gutter near her home.
On Monday when the girl had not returned home from school, the relatives started looking for her in the evening.
While the mother said that she had found the girl’s body covered in blood and there were signs of her hands being tied, the police were tight-lipped on the course of their investigation. Police sources said as of now a case has been registered as death under suspicious circumstances.
The minor girl’s body has been sent for post-mortem at the Pannimadai government hospital.
Even as the incident sent shock-waves across the small town, relatives and residents here drew a parallel to the infamous Pollachi sexual abuse case, which had unravelled barely about 50 kms from this location.
Enraged relatives and residents at Pannimadai staged an impromptu protest outside the government hospital, only to be dispersed later by the police with an assurance that the culprits will be apprehended very soon.
